Jamie Carragher labels Tanguy Ndombele a 'disgrace' after Jose Mourinho criticism

Tottenham's summer signing Tanguy Ndombele has seen his performance against Burnley on Saturday labelled a "disgrace" by Jamie Carragher.

The Frenchman was part of a Tottenham midfield that struggled against the Clarets in the first-half at Turf Moor.

It bought about plenty of criticism from Jose Mourinho was claimed after the contest that he "didn't have a midfield" such was Ndombele's display.

The Portuguese manager is not shy of calling out his players in public having done so at several of his former clubs.

And while Carragher says the debate will continue as to whether he should make his feelings known in public he did totally back Mourinho's criticism.

He said on Sky Sports : "Yes it was (justified), again that is another debate and Sven (Goran Eriksson) is spot on that that will be the debate - do you do it in public or in private?

"But I said in the game after about 10 minutes that Spurs were a shambles.

"His performance was nothing short of a disgrace in terms of his effort off the ball.

"On the ball he was actually very good, but off the ball when I watched the game you can't believe what you're seeing."

Ndombele was hauled off at the interval and replaced by Giovani Lo Celso and the Argentine was crucial in Tottenham's improved showing.

A Dele Alli penalty ensured Tottenham left Turf Moor with a point after Chris Wood had put the hosts ahead.

Former Premier League winger Jermaine Pennant was not a fan of Mourinho's methods however and claimed he is going to shatter the former Lyon man's confidence.

“I don’t think it’s right,” he said on talkSport. “How is that going to help the player? It isn’t, it’s going to shatter his confidence!"
