Jamie Carragher has issued his assessment of the Premier League title race, declaring that Liverpool and Manchester City are the only two sides he can see emerging successful.
Jurgen Klopp's side have been the early pacesetters in the campaign, sitting top of the pile with 16 points from their opening seven matches.
City, meanwhile, are five points adrift of the defending champions heading into this weekend's titanic clash at the Etihad Stadium but Pep Guardiola's men have a game in hand.
While there have been other top performers in the division so far this season, including Tottenham, Everton and Leicester City, Carragher doesn't fancy their chances.
He has made that pretty clear with his predictions for the campaign, as he declared only Liverpool and City are the teams he can see lifting the title.
"I still can't envisage anyone else besides Liverpool or Man City winning the league. I just can't see that," he told Sky Sports.
"I know Tottenham have started really well, I hope they have a great season and there are more challengers, but I just can't see anyone else lifting that league title besides the big two over the last few years.
"There's no doubt, I would be very strong in putting Liverpool as big favourites for the title but for the injury to Virgil van Dijk, who is not just one of Liverpool's top players, he's one of the top players in the Premier League.
"I think if something similar would have happened to Kevin De Bruyne at Man City, who is there top man, I think we'd say the same about City, so I think it makes for a more interesting race."
