Jamie Carragher is teeing up Marcelo Bielsa for Sky Sports' Monday Night Football

Jamie Carragher has revealed his excitement to analyse Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League and believes avoiding a relegation battle would be classed as a successful season.

The Whites will make their long-awaited return to England's top-tier on Saturday when they travel to Anfield to face champions Liverpool.

The match will be shown live on Sky Sports, kicking off at 5.30pm, as Leeds supporters get their first taste of Premier League football for 16 years.

Leeds have recruited well this summer with the headline addition of Spanish international Rodrigo in a club-record deal, as well as Robin Koch to replace Ben White.

With all eyes on Bielsa to see how Leeds equip themselves, Carragher has explained his intrigue with the Whites' set-up and what would represent a good debut season.

"A lot. Leeds have become people’s second team," he told The Telegraph when asked how excited he is to watch Leeds.

"People have been intrigued by Bielsa. I want to analyse his teams. I want to analyse what he does. There is something special there. Something different.

"As a club, you want Leeds there. You want to go Elland Road, I remember going there as a player. I hope they stay up for a long time. Any team coming up, just stay up.

"For me, it would be a successful season if they are not involved in a relegation scrap. They have just bought Rodrigo for a few quid so it looks like they might spend a bit of money.

"I think Leeds will establish themselves. We know Bielsa’s teams start quickly and at times have faded. So you might see Leeds get off to a good start. Maybe the second half of the season will be a little more difficult for them.

"If crowds get into Elland Road in the second half of the season it will be tough going there.

"There is a mystique about Bielsa with his interpreter and how he sits on his little stool. Everything about him is quirky. Even the spying stuff. I loved it.

"The fact he would go to that extreme to want to win a game to find out and then do a big Press presentation. You want different people and characters in the Premier League, and he’s certainly that.

"I would love to get him on Monday Night Football. We will even get the interpreter involved."
