Jamie Carragher in major Rangers blunder as hilarious Maurice Edu faux pas caught on camera

Jamie Carragher admits he had to Google Maurice Edu to find out who he was....despite sitting beside the former Rangers star on punditry.

The two were on punditry together for American broadcaster CBS as they covered Wednesday's Champions League matches.

They were joined by former Manchester City defender Micah Richards as well as presenter Kate Abdo.

The former Rangers man, best known for his last-minute heroics against Celtic, was sitting to Carragher's right.

And it was eagle-eyed Richards who caught sight of Carragher looking up Edu's Wikipedia page shortly before they met.

A pic shows Carragher zooming into the career section of Edu's page, doing some last minute research on the American pundit.

And when the moment was highlighted it sparked hilarity in the studio with Carragher fronting up to the faux-pas.

He said: "Yeah I Googled him before I came in - did you get me on camera?"

Edu himself saw the funny side as he wagged a good-natured accusatory finger in the Liverpool hero's face.

CBS Sports shared the hilarious clip on Twitter which you can watch above.
