Jamie Carragher says anything is possible for Everton's top-four chances with Carlo Ancelotti in charge.
The Toffees' 1-0 win over Southampton on Monday evening saw them move two points off fourth-placed West Ham with a game in hand.
Everton now face West Brom on Thursday and, with West Ham not in action and Chelsea and Liverpool facing each other two hours later, know a win will move them into the top four.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said he suspects Everton may just fall short of qualifying for the Champions League.
Yet he said that, with Ancelotti in charge, they cannot be ruled out of contention.
He said: "I think they may just fall short, I think the manager they have in Ancelotti, it’s almost him, if I’m thinking of Everton maybe getting in the top four.
"You think their squad is perhaps shorter than some of the other sides, you think of Liverpool and Chelsea, but in terms of their manager - you look at the record he has.
"I said on the show last week how much of an impact he had in the derby game and how much of an impact he’s had at Everton.
"I think, with the last couple of wins, that’s actually pushed his win percentage up to over 50%, no Everton manager has been close to that since Howard Kendall’s first spell - and that’s Everton’s best-ever manager.
"That shows the job he’s been doing since he’s come in.
"If Everton are to get to the top four, I think a lot of other clubs fighting for it have got better 11s and better squads, but with that man in charge - anything is possible."
