Jamie Carragher identifies his big problem with David Moyes and West Ham before Liverpool clash

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has identified his big problem with David Moyes and West Ham, following a difficult return to East London for the Scottish boss.

The Hammers sit inside the relegation zone heading into the final months of the season and have won just once since Moyes' return to the club, against Bournemouth on New Year's Day.

Since then, his side have picked up just two points from a possible 18, although they have faced testing fixtures against the likes of Manchester City and Leicester City during that period.

However, Carragher has not been impressed with the club's approach to those bigger matches, and has accused the side of merely settling for a defeat with a lower scoreline.

Liverpool v West Ham: David Moyes press conference

"In midweek at Man City, you're watching a team who were almost happy to accept a 2-0 defeat, it was similar when they played Liverpool," he told Sky Sports.

"My big problem with that is I keep hearing when you defend that type of game 'you've got to think about goal difference' but there's only one team in Premier League history who have gone down on goal difference and that’s Bolton.

"Three teams every season go down because of points. They've got to be a bit more progressive in those big games. It's not easy but you've got to be a little bit more ambitious and with a little bit more aggression."
