Jamie Carragher gives verdict on Manchester United's Premier League title chances

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has issued his verdict on Manchester United's chances of winning the Premier League title in 2020-21.

United finished third last season following an impressive second half of the campaign and optimism is high ahead of the new season.

The signing of Donny van de Beek has caught the eye and there is also plenty of excitement around Bruno Fernandes ahead of his first full season in English football.

While Carragher has admitted he would like to see the likes of United and Chelsea compete for the title, he still believes it will be between Liverpool and Manchester City.

"I still think Manchester City, rather than Manchester United, will be the biggest obstacle to Liverpool retaining the title but I do see United getting a lot closer," he told Sky Sports.

"The signing of Bruno Fernandes has been fantastic - he was outstanding in the second half of last season and I'm really excited to see him for a full season.

"I don't see Chelsea or Manchester United getting to 90-plus points to win a title. I hope they can close the gap to make it more exciting but I still just see Liverpool or City for the league."
