Jamie Carragher gives perfect response to Gary Neville's taunts after Liverpool miss out on Premier League title

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has sent the perfect response to Gary Neville's taunting post after the Reds were pipped to the Premier League title by Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp's side finished runners-up and a point adrift of Pep Guardiola's team.

The former defender reacted to Man City - Manchester United's local rivals - being crowned champions in post on Twitter.

Carragher wrote: "Congratulations to Man City worthy winners of the PL, great effort from LFC & 1 more win away from number 6 don’t forget! Man United can’t beat Cardiff & the blues are as bad as ever!!"

But Neville sent a taunting reply to his Sky Sports colleague.

Neville replied with an edited picture of Liverpool celebrating coming second.

To which the Kop icon quickly responded with an image of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer behind the wheel of a car.

United slumped to a sixth-placed finish after a poor end to their campaign.

Relegated Cardiff City ran out 2-0 winners at Old Trafford on Sunday thanks to two goals from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
