Jamie Carragher gives Celtic 'absolutely no chance' of 10 In A Row as he backs Rangers in bizarre wager

Jamie Carragher is certain that his old pal Steven Gerrard will lead Rangers to 55 titles at the end of the season.

The Sky pundit told Open Goal he has no doubts his former Liverpool teammate will take the title and prevent 10 In A Row - citing the current gap and the fact that two of the next three derbies are at Ibrox.

And when host Paul Slane suggested that Gerrard might deliver the trophy, last won in 2011, Carragher interrupted with an emphatic response.

He said: "It doesn't look like. It's happening. He's ( Neil Lennon ) got to win the next three Old Firms and that's not happening. Two of them are at Ibrox."

Slane, who had previously admitted he was impressed by Carragher's house where recording took place, wondered if a deal could be arranged to test his guest's confidence.

He asked: "See if Celtic win the league can I come and stay here for a week?"

Carragher responded: "If Celtic win the league you can come and stay here for a year. Or we can house swap. It's not a problem, you have absolutely no chance."

The Champions League winning defender admits he's not one to pry into his old teammate's life in Glasgow but revealed he did send him a text after seeing a wince-inducing result.

He said: "I don't get involved, if you know what I mean. I don't know if it was last year or his first year. He had a bad defeat. It was one of those you go 'Oh'. I sent him a bit of a long text.

"We've all been in football and we have had our ups and downs but we all know when there is one that gets you. They lost a cup final against Celtic but they played well, this was at home and it might have been in the cup. You were like 'Oh, that's a bad one that.'

"But I'm not someone who is like 'what's going on up there?'

"I've not even seen a game which has done my head in because I've been that busy and we have had Covid."
