Jamie Carragher has spoken about how former Liverpool teammate Robbie Fowler did not 'look right' in a Leeds United shirt.
Fowler left Anfield to join Leeds in 2001, with a deal worth £11 million being agreed between the sides.
Despite scoring 171 goals in 330 appearances in his first spell at Liverpool, Fowler struggled to recapture the same form at Leeds, with injuries curtailing his progress.
The former England striker spent two years at Elland Road, scoring 14 times in 33 games, before joining Manchester City.
And Carragher, who played alongside Fowler at Anfield, admits that he never felt his old teammate looked right in a Leeds kit.
“I always used to look at Baresi or Maldini, heroes of mine, and you just see them in that [AC Milan] kit,” Carragher said on his Instagram channel.
“I was sad when Raul left Real Madrid, because he just didn’t look right in another kit.
“Even Robbie Fowler, when he left Liverpool, and you see him in the Leeds kit – he was meant to be at Liverpool!”
Fowler returned to Liverpool in 2005 before stints at Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and clubs in Australia and Thailand before he retired in 2011.
The ex-Leeds forward then began his coaching career and currently manages A-League side Brisbane Roar.
