Jamie Carragher explains how Liverpool win matches in a way that Man City don't

Jamie Carragher has pinpointed Liverpool's relentless non-stop attitude as the key characteristic to how they win matches compared to Man City .

The former Reds defender watched his old side battle back from an early Harry Kane strike to beat Tottenham in a thrilling encounter at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool restored their six-point lead over title rivals City with the win, which maintained their unbeaten Premier League run so far this season.

Quizzed on whether he thought Liverpool looked like title-winners following the match, Carragher told Sky Sports: "I agree. I thought Liverpool were superb in the game.

"The manager has just mentioned it. The goal so early didn't really affect them.

"At no time in that game, did I think Liverpool weren't going to win. When we went on-air at half-time I said Liverpool will still win this game. I feel as soon as they got one they would get another, if that goal came at 70/75 minutes, I thought they would go on to win the game."

A rare goal from captain Jordan Henderson pulled Liverpool level, before Mohamed Salah converted a penalty after Sadio Mane had been fouled by Serge Aurier.

Asked what the secret to Liverpool's confidence was, Carragher added: "How well they played. How poor Tottenham were really. I thought Spurs looked more dangerous in the second half. Going forward, they obviously had the chance from Son.

"But Liverpool are just the better team. They just steamrolled them. That's a Liverpool performance. Man City don't win games like that.

"Man City win games differently and they look better on the eye so you think that City are a better team when you watch them in terms of how they play and the amount of chances they create.

"But actually playing against Liverpool is non-stop. Every time they couldn't get out, someone is on top of them every time they get the ball out. Win the ball back and they go again.

"Yeah, Liverpool don't have De Bruyne in there, they get the creativity from the full-backs but it's just non-stop. They must be an absolute nightmare to play against, Liverpool."
