Jamie Carragher compares Gary Neville to Boris Johnson in hilarious exchange

It's not unusual for Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville to be having a sly pop at each other over social media.

However the Sky Sports pundits swapped bickering over trophy cabinets, to Tory cabinets, in their latest bout of Twitter joshing.

And Carragher even hilariously compared his former Manchester United nemesis to Conservative MP Boris Johnson in the exchange.

After a politically based outburst on Twitter by Carragher, Neville teased: "You'd be better on Sky News."

But the Liverpool legend responded wittily, tweeting: "I may get a regular partner there, rather than someone who decides/changes which gig they fancy. You’re SkySports Boris Johnson!"

The playful jibe came after Carragher had originally posted about Johnson's latest contribution to the ongoing Brexit discussion.

After months of opposing Prime Minister Theresa May's attempts to broker a deal for Britain to leave the European Union, Johnson announced on Wednesday that he would back her latest suggestion.

Carragher was critical of the former Mayor of London however, who was a key figure in the campaign for Britain to vote to leave the EU back in 2016.

Phil Neville baffles Man Utd fans with one inclusion in dream 2019/20 line-up

"It’s always been about becoming Prime minister for [Boris] Johnson/[Michael] Gove not Brexit," Carragher said.

"They’re now backing a deal they don’t agree with because [Theresa] May agreed to go.

"May never fully backed remain because she knew [David] Cameron would have to go if he lost the referendum. # BrexitShambles"
