Jamie Carragher can't help but laugh as he recalls making Man Utd's Nani cry

Jamie Carragher couldn't help but laugh when recalling making Nani cry during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Manchester United in 2011.

Carragher went over the ball as he tried to dispossess the Portuguese and caught him on the shin. The Liverpool defender should have been shown a red card for the foul, but Carragher got away with a booking.

Carragher recalled the incident and his conversation with referee Phil Dowd, admitting he held his hands up and told the official "he beat with me skill", in a chat with his Sky Sports co-pundit Gary Neville.

Carragher also revealed that Wayne Rooney told him Nani was crying... and couldn't help but have a giggle.

"March 11, not one of my finer moments. A bit of a dive from Nani. I tell you what my best memory of that is, not so much the tackle, Wayne Rooney's reaction," Carragher said on Sky Sports.

"I was on favourable terms with the referee Phil Dowd and I got him on my own, pulled him in, and I said, 'He just beat me with skill'.

"Everyone else was fighting, I got him over as you do, experienced pro, and then Wayne Rooney came over and said, 'You won't believe it he's crying.'"

It is at this point that Carragher starts laughing as Neville asks whether he meant to hurt the Portuguese.

"No," Carragher added. "What I did was, someone got injured and I went from centre-back to right-back and as soon as I went Alex Ferguson put Nani to the left-wing, straight away.

"[I thought] I'm going to get tight and I'm going to tackle him or foul him, there's no way I'm letting him get the ball and run at me, so I have got there and the ball did jump up a little bit, and I went for it, and the ball just disappeared."
