Jamie Carragher and Tony Bellew launch 'affordable' e-bikes for Liverpool firm DAM Bikes

Liverpool sporting legends Jamie Carragher and Tony Bellew have launched a range of "affordable" e-bikes for Liverpool business DAM Bikes.

The Baltic Triangle-based company has been trading for several months, but officially unveiled its full e-bike range this weekend with the help of the sporting stars.

The bikes, which are made in the city, have been slashed in price by 25% to make them more affordable for families, with the firm also donating 10 models to the NHS.

The company said it has "big ambitions" and is promising to give international competitors a run for their money.

Speaking at the DAM Bikes launch, Jamie Carragher, said: "DAM Bikes stand out because of the design and quality.

"It is a fantastic Liverpool business and will become a leader in e-bike technology. It is great to give them my support."

The firm said the launch came after 2020 saw a "huge leap" in the number of people purchasing e-bikes for leisure and others looking for an eco-friendly way to commute to work. There has been a particular surge in interest from people who took up cycling during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Roy Heatherington from DAM Bikes said: “There is huge interest in DAM Bikes. We’re getting massive interest in our products from people of all ages from all over the country.

"We are a relatively new company but we have a quality product that stands out from the crowd. The bikes are designed in Liverpool and we're proud to say that so much hard work goes into creating them.

"That's what makes us special. We're also challenging competitors on price and are offering as much as 25% savings on comparative models. We've done this to make the bikes more affordable for families.

"We’ve seen particular interest from parents and carers who are purchasing the bikes for their children this Christmas. E-bikes are set to be a Christmas best-seller."
