Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry are on the same page with Sadio Mane and Liverpool

Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry could not be in more of an agreement over Sadio Mane at Liverpool amid links to Bayern Munich.

The Senegal international proved the match-winner on Tuesday night against Aston Villa after heading home to clinch three points for the Reds at a crucial time. After going a goal down in the opening exchanges to Steven Gerrard's men, Jurgen Klopp knew he could not afford another slip-up having already dropped points to Tottenham.

The result sees Liverpool draw level with Manchester City on points at the top of the table but the champions have a game in hand and will face Wolves tonight at the Molineux with the chance of reasserting their lead at the summit.

However, Mane's winner comes hours after news dropped that Bayern Munich are determined to sign the 30-year-old this summer and make him their statement transfer of the year. Speculation has grown over the last few months that the striker could be ready to leave Anfield soon.

The former Southampton star will see his contract run out at the end of next season and there has been little movement on negotiations over the past 12 months. Liverpool might be forced to consider offers or risk losing the AFCON champion for nothing.

While Reds legend Carragher would be gutted to lose the forward and counts him as one the very best in the world at the moment. The former defender said: "You'd always find a place in the front three for him. When Diaz came in and he started so well, he wants to play on the left which is Mane's position.

"Salah's always going to play on the right, then he's in a fight with Jota, who's a scoring sensation since he's come to Liverpool. I love him, I absolutely love him to bits. Not just because he's a great player and for what he's done for Liverpool, I wouldn't say he's sacrificed himself but he initially came in on the right wing, then Salah came in and he moved to the left.

"Never injured touch wood for Liverpool, they're there week in, week out, 90 minutes, getting their numbers up every week, what [Mane and Mohamed Salah have] done for this club is unbelievable. Huge fan of Sadio Mane, and I can assure you he's going nowhere. I won't let him go to Bayern Munich!"

And Arsenal legend Henry was also full of praise for Mane recently, even admitting that he could beat his countryman Karim Benzema to the Ballon d'Or this year if he keeps up his form while also believing that Liverpool will trounce Real Madrid in the Champions League.

"Personally, I think Liverpool will win the Champions League. They are stronger than Madrid," said Henry. "To make the Champions League final even bigger, the two favorites for the Ballon d'Or are Mane and Benzema."

"I still believe that Benzema is ahead, but if Mane wins with Liverpool and they win the quadruple, he is a very strong opponent and would be great for Africa. But I'm still betting on Benzema."
