Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane go head to head over Luis Suarez and Man United title claim

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher clashed with Roy Keane over his claim about Manchester United's Premier League title ambitions.

The pair, working for Sky as part of their team for Liverpool's 2-1 win at Chelsea, were discussing United's decline when Carragher made a claim that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were just a few transfers away from being back in a position to challenge for the Premier League title.

Carragher used the signing of Luis Suarez as an example of how one player can make all the difference for one side.

But Keane was clearly having none of it, and hit back at Carragher stating that second still isn't good enough for United.

"I was in this position at Liverpool where you are trying to catch teams," Carragher said.

"Sometimes you just need that two or three players who can transform them. I think of Luis Suarez coming to Liverpool.

"For three or four years we were finishing sixth and seventh, where United are and then almost won the title.

"Sometimes that one player can make all the difference."

Before Keane quickly fired back: "Jamie, you said 'almost' winning the title. You didn't win a title.

"You are talking about Manchester United here."

Carragher then concluded with: "But Liverpool are still trying to bridge that gap."

Taking to Twitter this morning, Carragher added: "Keane & Neville throwing the league in on the same day!

"My point was to defend United & say it’s never as bad as it seems & 2/3 players can change it.

"Like United I’ll take defeat on the chin & come back stronger next week on MNF with Roy Keane!!!"
