Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville clash after Erling Haaland snubs Manchester United and Liverpool

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have locked horns once again after Mino Raiola's comments on the future of relentless talisman Erling Haaland with his next move in the spotlight.

The Norwegian star is expected to be the centre of a huge summer transfer tussle, with the Italian super-agent having revealed there is a 'big chance' Haaland's time at Borussia Dortmund will end this season.

The 22-year-old is widely understood to have a release clause worth around £64m, which will become active in the summer, prompting a whole host of clubs to monitor the situation.

Manchester United had lined Haaland up as a priority during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reign and his performances this season will have done the Reds' interest no damage.

However, Raiola pinpointed Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City as the "big" clubs he could go to, leaving out both of English giants United and Liverpool, prompting Neville to quip at his Sky Sports counterpart.

"Were Liverpool mentioned," Neville asked.

To which Carragher replied: "No, we don’t need him."

"Oh, Liverpool weren’t mentioned (by Raiola either). Just making sure," he continued leading to Carragher aiming a dig at the Reds frontline: "You’ve got two 36-year-olds up front."

The former Liverpool defender directed a dig at their East Lancs rivals which features Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, but they're facing competition to keep the latter in Manchester with his contract expiring in the summer.

There have been suggestions that Ralf Rangnick could rekindle his relationship with Haaland after bringing him to Austria from Molde in 2018.

To which the German interim manager said: "Let me have a look… okay £10m for Erling Haaland, £10m for Kylian Mbappe, £10m for Robert Lewandowski and £10m for Joshua Kimmich.

"I mean this is nonsense obviously just to answer the second question, of course, there are no such clauses in my contract and as I said it doesn’t make sense to have speculation on different players.

"Erling Haaland is a fantastic striker I know best myself because I was together with the people at Salzburg with my friend Kristoff and the people there were a little bit involved in the move from Molde to Salzburg and therefore I know what kind of player he is.

"In the meantime, the whole world has realised how good the player is. Two years ago it was only very few people who believed in this kind of development but as I said it doesn’t make sense.

"I’m more than happy with the offensive strike power we have here and the offensive players we have here and quite a few of them did not play yesterday. Martial only came on in the last five minutes, Mason didn’t play at all we have so many top players in the offensive department that we don’t need to speak about any other players."
