James Washington trims down before Steelers OTAs

When Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington came into the league, he weighed 212 pounds. At least this was the weight he was listed at when he was at the NFL scouting combine. But it sounds as if Washington might have let his conditioning get away from him during his rookie season which attributed to his lack of production.

But in speaking to the media after practice during organized team activities, he let everyone know he’s down 15 pounds and in much better shape.

This is a situation to monitor. Washington obviously didn’t utilize his resources properly last season to maintain his conditioning. Hopefully his inability to stay on the field last season is the wakeup call he needs. This is a perfect opportunity for Washington to grab a spot in the starting lineup if he’s willing to put in the work.
