James Van Der Beek shows off body transformation from Dancing With The Stars

Dawson's Creek actor James Van Der Beek has unveiled his body transformation following his training for Dancing With The Stars.

The 42-year-old was appearing on the US dance show, partnered with Emma Slater.

He was eliminated in the semi finals two weeks ago, finishing in fifth place.

On a recent Instagram selfie, he explained that he owed his muscled figure to not just Dancing With The Stars - but also rigorous Muay Thai training.

Posting a side by side comparison of his body before and after DWTS training, James wrote: "Fight training vs. dancing...

"I’d been training in Muay Thai three days a week for about six months (for the next project I’m writing) when I hit pause to dance six hours a day.

"Now I can rhumba."

His fans commented saying how great he looked, and noting the difference between his body when training in different disciplines.

"Both cut but you can see dancing really defines everything. Especially when you worked as hard as you did!", said one.

"Wow. Dancing really defined all those muscles. No dad bod for you!", gushed another.

"The upper abs and pecks!", drooled a third.

Another fan asked James for more detail on what his diet consisted of.

To this, he explained he ate "lots of fruit, vegetables, lot of smoothies, salads," and ate mostly plant-based food.

"I danced early in the day so pretty much ate vegan until dinner," he said. "Had to keep it light fare because we didn't really take breaks.

"Not so much a diet ... more like only wanting to eat what I knew would make me feel good under the workload."
