James Tennyson's world title bid ended in a devastating first-round stoppage on Saturday night.
The Belfast fighter was outgunned by Mexican Jovanni Straffon in Manchester ahead of Katie Taylor's bout with Natasha Jonas.
Both men traded early in the opening round before Tennyson was dropped by a stinging left hook, reports Belfast Live.
The 27-year-old looked out on his feet but survived the count, but it wasn't long before the contest was over.
Another flurry of punches from Straffon rocked Tennyson back onto the ropes, and referee Michael Alexander stepped in and end the contest, just as Tennyson's corner threw in the towel.
It is a devastating defeat for Tennyson who was looking to win the IBO world lightweight title in Manchester.
Victory would have teed up a shot at one of the division's other champions, including Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney.
Speaking after the bout, Straffon said: "I have gone through a lot in my life, and he is not tougher than my life. This is life-changing for my family. I knew I could stand with a puncher. I was more than confident I would do what I just did."
