James Tavernier to leave Rangers after 11 years at Ibrox

• Rangers captain James Tavernier has announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
• Tavernier announced his exit on Instagram on Wednesday morning, and admitted it “hasn't been an easy decision”.
• Tavernier was named Rangers captain in 2018, and he acknowledged this in his Instagram post, stating: “Leading this team out, wearing the armband and being trusted in that role has meant more to me that I can properly put into words."
• Tavernier is set to bring the curtain down on an 11-year spell at Ibrox, after joining Rangers from Wigan Athletic in 2015.
• The 34-year-old led Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title in 2020-21, and the Gers are firmly in the hunt for another domestic title this season as they are currently one point behind leaders Hearts with five games remaining.
