JAMES TAVERNIER admits it was a 'no-brainer' to commit his future to Rangers as he closes in on an Ibrox testimonial.
Herald and Times Sport revealed last month that an agreement had been reached for Tavernier to sign fresh terms with Rangers.
The captain has put pen-to-paper on an extension to his deal - which was due to expire in 2024 - and will now remain at the club into his mid-thirties.
Tavernier moved north of the border from Wigan Athletic in 2015 and has gone on to write his name in Rangers folklore as he has amassed 85 goals from 353 appearances for the Light Blues.
He skippered Steven Gerrard's side to the historic 55th Premiership title two seasons ago and wore the armband as Rangers came within touching distance of the Europa League silverware in Seville.
The 30-year-old remains an integral part of Giovanni van Bronckhorst's squad and he is pleased to have finally completed the formalities on a deal that could see him end his career at Ibrox.
Tavernier said: "I just want to spend more years here and have that security.
"It is such a great place to play football and I can’t wait to see what the coming years have to bring.
"I am settled here, my family are settled here, so it was a no-brainer to get the contact extension over the line."
