James Tavernier's Rangers leadership captured on film as captain's orders trigger epic Europa League clincher

His value to Rangers is being measured in goals and assists so far this season.

But Premiership Player of the Month James Tavernier's worth goes beyond the raw numbers - as proven in alternative footage from Thursday night's huge Europa League win over Standard Liege.

The Ibrox skipper pulled the trigger on a deadly press that saw the Belgians cough up possession and led to Scott Arfield's winning strike.

In the clip, Standard Liege head back towards their own box, with the ball ending up at the feet of defender Noe Dussenne at the byline.

Tavernier is heard screaming: "Go, go, go!"

The blue jerseys charge forward in unison, with Glen Kamara eventually forcing Dussenne into a rushed clearance.

The ball falls back under Rangers' control, and just a handful of passes later Ryan Kent delivers an accurate low ball to Arfield's feet.

Arfield slots home as Tavernier gets the final word in: "Go on, Scottie!"

The goal sealed the Light Blues' passage to the Europa League last 32, although their final group placing is still to be decided.

One final victory at Lech Poznan next Thursday will be enough to seal top spot in Group D on head to head over Benfica, by virtue of an extra away goal.
