James Tavernier reveals Rangers return timeline as he opens up on Covid recovery nightmare

James Tavernier says he's back in full training from Monday as he continues his recovery from Covid - but says he's still feeling the effects of the virus on his tastebuds.

The Rangers captain hasn't played for the club since their win over Ross County last month after he was caught in an outbreak of the virus.

He was one of a number of Rangers players and staff to test positive with manager Steven Gerrard also missing the second leg with Alashkert and the first Old Firm derby of the season.

Speaking on Twitch, Tavernier says he's feeling better now.

And he's buzzing to get back into full training with his team-mates from Monday.

He responded to a fan question: "My health is good thank you.

"I can't wait to get back into training. I've had a couple of sessions so far.

"I'm back in normal tomorrow. Can't wait."

The Ibrox skipper also opened up on how badly he was hit with the virus.

He says it was everything he'd feared, and still hasn't got his sense of taste back even as he is given the green light to leave isolation.

He added: "I'm feeling better now. It's been pretty bad. I think I've had all of it (symptoms) except the temperature.

"I still don't have my taste back.

"I was meant to go out for a family dinner but didn't see much point if I can't taste anything."
