James Tavernier in Steven Gerrard confession as Rangers skipper sees Twitch stream swamped by worried Ibrox followers

James Tavernier's Twitch stream has been flooded by Rangers fans demanding answers on Steven Gerrard's future.

The Ibrox boss stands on the verge of a groundbreaking move to Villa Park after Record Sport learned on Tuesday that talks could open within 24 hours.

Rangers confirmed late on Tuesday evening that they had received no official approach from Villa but that remains the only direct communication fans have had on the matter.

So when Tavernier went live on Twitch to stream Call of Duty: Warzone, the response from fans in the comments section was predictable.

The Ibrox skipper took a moment to read some of the comments flying in, the vast majority of them about the ongoing Gerrard situation.

He joked: "So how's everyone's day going then?"

After a few minutes passed, Tavernier hadn't directly addressed the elephant in the room but the comments failed to subside.

So Tavernier did finally break his silence, commenting: "I'm just hearing what you're hearing and reading."

Fans have voiced their frustration at Tavernier for appearing to ignore their concerns as uncertainty looms over the managerial situation.

While there is an acceptance that players can do what they want in their off-time, some feel he has failed to read the room by promoting a Twitch stream at a time when the club appears to be in turmoil.

The only other direct acknowledgement of the situation fans have had is from Steven Davis, who addressed it while on press duty for Northern Ireland.

He said: “Unfortunately in football there are always going to be links if you're doing a good job.

“He is certainly doing a fantastic job and I've got a great relationship with him.”
