James Scott's Hibs transfer nears completion after late-night Edinburgh dash from Hull City

James Scott is in Edinburgh to finalise his loan move to Hibs.

The Hull City man headed to the capital late last night after getting the call to say his switch to Easter Road was on.

The former Motherwell man will undergo his medical this morning before penning a season-long loan deal, reports the Daily Record.

Jack Ross has made his move after losing Christian Doidge to an Achilles injury for several months, leaving just Kevin Nisbet as a recognised centre forward.Scott has had his own injury troubles on Humberside since leaving Fir Park in a £1.5million deal last year.

And Tigers boss Grant McCann is content to let the Scotland Under 21 international return to the Scottish Premiership in order to try and rediscover fitness and form.

Dundee United and St Johnstone had also been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old along with Ross’ former club St Mirren, but he’ll be a Hibs player for the coming season as they look to replicate last year’s third place finish.

It’s a further boost to the Hibees after Martin Boyle put pen to paper on a new contract this week.

Aberdeen’s ambitious attempt to land the wide man was booted out after they tabled a £500,000 bid for the Australian international.

That amount would have allowed Boyle to speak to a club outwith Scotland, but wasn’t enough to get the Dons a seat at the negotiating table.

And just days later, Boyle had extended his stay in Leith until 2024 less than a year after extending his previous deal.
