James Scott is Hibs transfer 'target' with Hull striker on the radar after Christian Doidge injury

James Scott has emerged as a loan target for Hibs.

The former Motherwell striker is on the Hibees’ radar after Christian Doidge was ruled out until “at least December” with an achilles injury, reports the Daily Record.

Jack Ross knows he needs to bring in reinforcements in attack and Scott is a potential option after falling out of favour at Hull City.

The Scotland Under 21 international made the move south last year but has struggled with injury at the Tigers.

A return to Scotland now looks likely with St Johnstone also keen on the forward.

Dundee United were interested but have since re-signed Marc McNulty on loan.

With just Kevin Nisbet as a fit, recognised striker, Hibs require reinforcements at the top of end of the pitch.

Martin Boyle can be deployed through the middle, and the club reportedly booted out a £500,000 bid from Aberdeen for the Australian international.

An Easter Road return for fellow Aussie Jamie Maclaren is unlikely with the forward set to start the A League season with Melbourne City.

A deal to bring in US international Chris Mueller ahead of schedule is a possibility, however.

Mueller has already agreed a pre-contract switch to lLeith in January but discussions continue with Orlando City over a move before the end of this transfer window.
