Rangers have confirmed the loan signing of American international James Sands.
He arrives as Gio van Bronckhorst 's first signing as Ibrox boss and signs on an 18-month loan from New York City FC.
News broke of Rangers ' interest in Sands last week and on Tuesday morning it emerged that things had taken a significant step forward.
Sands, a seven-time USA cap and a key part of Ronny Deila's NYCFC team, comes highly-rated in the States.
And now he'll get the chance to prove himself in the Scottish Premiership as the champions have made him their first signing of the window.
He will remain on loan at Ibrox until the end of next season and Rangers have an "exclusive option" to make the deal permanent.
Versatile Sands can play anywhere across the back line and also in defensive midfield which will make him a huge asset to Van Bronckhorst.
The Ibrox boss has had to contend with Ryan Jack's long-term absence as well as a lack of options in defence with Filip Helander and Leon Balogun currently out.
Sands can cover both of those positions while he can also fill in at right-back - especially important now Nathan Patterson has left for Everton leaving James Tavernier as the only natural option there.
