James Rodriguez travels with squad as Ben Godfrey set for full Everton debut

James Rodriguez travelled with the rest of the Everton squad to Southampton last night.

And so the Colombian is now expected to be named in the Blues' matchday squad for today's 2pm kick-off at St Mary's Stadium.

Rodriguez was ruled out of the game by Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti on Thursday after he was left with bruising - following a foul by Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk - that had meant he was unable to train.

The diagnosis was that the 29-year-old would be unable to work with his team-mates for at least a week.

But Rodriguez saw marked improvement 24 hours later and was able to "partially" train with the Blues' squad on Friday and, again, on Saturday morning.

He is believed to have travelled to the south coast with the rest of the squad yesterday.

And the forward is now in the frame to be in the matchday 18 for this afternoon's game.

Everton will be without the suspended Richarlison, who begins the first of his three match ban, and the injured Seamus Coleman.

Jonjoe Kenny has returned to training after his ankle problem but is not fit to play.

And so Ben Godfrey is in line to make his full Everton debut, at right-back.
