James Rodriguez transfer latest as Everton star holds Al-Rayyan talks

James Rodriguez is edging closer to a move to Qatari side Al-Rayyan.

The 30-year-old has been in the Middle East this week to negotiate terms on a move away from Everton.

And today is there growing belief that a deal will be finalised.

Rodriguez was made available for sale by Rafa Benitez this summer but the Colombian was unable to agree a move to one of a number of interested clubs.

But the club’s highest paid player - who earns around £200,000 a week - is now edging closer to leaving Goodison Park.

Rodriguez only joined Everton last September but the shock departure of Carlo Ancelotti in June immediately plunged his future into doubt.

And the appointment of Benitez sealed the playmaker’s fate, with the pair having endured a strained relationship at Real Madrid.

Benitez recognises Rodriguez’s talent but with question marks over this fitness record and ability to fully buy into the manager’s methods - plus his hefty wages - he was told he could leave.

And after deals with Porto, AC Milan and Basaksehir fell through, a move to Al-Rayyan is moving closer to completion.
