James Rodriguez transfer latest as Everton set training return date

James Rodriguez is due back at training tomorrow with a move to Turkey fizzling out.

The Colombian has been the subject of interest from Basaksehir but with the Turkish window closing on Wednesday, he looks likely to stay at Goodison.

Rodriguez has also been attracting interest from an unnamed club in the Middle East.

Benitez told the 30-year-old that he was free to leave this summer but the Blues' highest paid player has been unable to agree a deal with a new club.

Everton had lined up the signing of Porto winger Luis Diaz, with Rodriguez moving back to the Portuguese club, as part of the transfer.

But Rodriguez could not come to an agreement with his old side and Everton's hopes of landing Diaz collapsed.

Basaksehir, who are based in Istanbul, have been keen on signing the Colombian but though the Blues were made aware of the interest, they are yet to receive an offer.

And, it is understood, Rodriguez had been unconvinced about the move.

The former Rea Madrid man is now expected back at Finch Farm tomorrow with the majority of the squad as Benitez begins preparations for Monday night's visit of Burnley.
