James Redford dead: Robert's son dies at 58 after devastating liver cancer battle

Robert Redford’s daughter-in-law has paid a gushing tribute to his late son James who has died after a long battle with liver cancer.

James died aged 58 at his home in Marin County on Friday the 16th of October.

On Monday morning, James’ devastated wife Kyle took to Twitter to share a selection of touching photographs of her late love.

Alongside the snaps, which featured James’ famous dad Robert, Kyle said her husband lived a "beautiful life".

In a heartbreaking statement, she penned: "Jamie died today.

“We’re heartbroken. He lived a beautiful, impactful life & was loved by many.

“He will be deeply missed.”

She continued: “As his wife of 32 years, I’m most grateful for the two spectacular children we raised together.

“I don’t know what we would’ve done without them over the past 2yrs.”

James and Kyle share two children in the acting industry – Dylan, 29 and Lena, 27.

Following the devastating death of her husband, Kyle later told The Salt Lake Tribune James died due to bile-duct cancer in his liver.

Doctors had discovered the mass while the star was on the waiting list for a liver transplant in November 2019.

James had suffered with health issues since his early childhood and had received two liver transplants before he reached his twenties.

The movie maker - whose mother is Lola Van Wagenen - followed in the footsteps of his legendary father in the film industry.

James made a name for himself mostly in documentaries which focused on the health and the environment.

His father Robert broke his silence to say he his "grief is immeasurable" after James' passing.

James is survived by his wife Kyle and their two children, Dylan and Lena.
