James O'Donoghue scores audacious point from 'impossible' angle in Kerry club match

Former Footballer of the Year James O'Donoghue has rolled back the years with a sensational score for his club side.

O'Donoghue helped his club Killarney Legion to a 1-13 to 0-08 victory over Kilcummin in the quarter-finals of the Kerry Intermediate Club Championship on Saturday.

During the first half Legion got a sideline ball close to the corner flag in a seemingly unthreatening position.

O'Donoghue strolled nonchalantly over to the ball and ignored one of his teammates' call for a short pass.

Instead the former All-Ireland winner took his time and struck the ball so sweetly with his left foot that it curled between the posts from the acutest of angles.

It was an audacious score, captured on video, that drew gasps from the crowd and confirmed the 32-year-old's immense ability, although some social media users were quick to point out that O'Donoghue's standing foot had crept over the line when the ball was struck.

O'Donoghue retired from inter-county football back in January after a career that included nine Munster championships and an All-Ireland title in 2014 when he was awarded the Footballer of the Year crown.
