James Naughtie accidentally says "s***" live on BBC Radio 4

BBC presenters seem to be developing an unfortunate habit of swearing live on air, especially James Naughtie

The BBC Radio 4 Today presenter had listeners accidentally spluttering into their coffees after he muttered “sh*t” as the pips played before the 7am news bulletin.

His gaffe occurred during Nick Robinson’s debut on Radio 4’s  flagship prgramme. Robinson, who has received treatment for lung cancer, addressed the incident on Twitter as just "one of those days".

Naughtie’s most memorable slip-up occurred when he unintentionally introduced the former culture secretary Jeremy Hunt as Jeremy C**t. Naughtie later apologised for the ‘spoonerism’, saying he “got into an awful tangle” that led him to mixing up the words “Hunt” and “culture” after the incident.

BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull followed in his footsteps earlier this year when he accidentally dropped the C-word live on air whilst reading out an email from a viewer.
