James Milner offers classic explanation for Sadio Mane's outburst - and Liverpool forward responds

James Milner has offered an explanation for Sadio Mane's reaction to being substituted during Liverpool's 3-0 win against Burnley on Saturday - and the Senegalese striker has responded.

Mane was visibly frustrated when he was replaced by Divock Origi towards the end of the match at Turf Moor.

It was initially thought Mane, who scored the Reds' second goal, was annoyed at being taken off by Jurgen Klopp.

But the uncharacteristic outburst was seemingly in reaction to Mohamed Salah opting to shoot rather than pass to him a few minutes prior to the 27-year-old's substitution.

Milner has tried to make light of the situation by sharing a picture on Instagram which showed him putting his arm on the No.10 in an attempt to calm him down.

The former England international wrote the comical caption: "Maybe I misread this, but I’m pretty sure Sadio was reacting to me not getting brought on."

Milner accompanied the post with two amusing hashtags, which read "#getmillyon #thanksmate".

Mane then responded by admitting: "It's exactly what I [had] been complaining [about]."

The forward's comment racked up more than 5,000 likes within 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also added a response, the attacking midfielder replied "Classic Milner".

One Liverpool fan hailed the midfielder as 'the king of social media' for his latest update and the post has also been liked by captain Jordan Henderson, defender Trent Alexander-Arnold as well as Xherdan Shaqiri and Andy Robertson.
