James Milner makes Liverpool prediction as Mateusz Musialowski and Kaide Gordon impress in friendly

Liverpool players present and future were involved in an intra-squad friendly match on Saturday and the young starlets involved certainly impressed veteran midfielder James Milner.

Ben Woodburn netted a hat-trick in Kirkby, with Mateusz Musialowski and Melkamu Frauendorf also among those involved.

New signing Kaide Gordon, 16, who arrived from Derby County in January, got himself onto the scoresheet and provided two assists on the afternoon too, seemingly linking well at times with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

With a period of 19 days between competitive Liverpool fixtures, thanks to the Reds' early FA Cup exit and then the international break, getting minutes into a few players' legs was crucial.

It also gave Reds boss Jurgen Klopp a chance to assess some of the up-and-coming talent at the Academy, which adjoins the new training centre that his players and staff moved into earlier this season.

Milner tweeted: "Good to get some minutes in yesterday and get a look at the young lads...the future is in good hands."

Liverpool face Arsenal next upon the conclusion of the international break, with their Champions League quarter-final double-header against Real Madrid following shortly after that.

They also have Premier League matches against Aston Villa, Leeds and Newcastle United before the end of April as they continue their chase to make the top four places.
