James Milner hails Harvey Elliott and Liverpool's golden generation of youngsters

James Milner says Liverpool have a golden generation of youngsters who can hasten him into retirement!

The Reds veteran explained he and his senior team-mates are constantly pushing the likes of Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, Ki-Jana Hoever and Rhian Brewster to step up into the first team.

“They showed how good they are and the more games they get they will only get better and better,” he said of the performance at MK Dons.

“They're pushing and that is what the senior boys need - competition for places. That's what we want, and hopefully we can help push them and they can keep pushing us."

The club, meanwhile, has had its attempt to trademark the word “ Liverpool ” rejected by the government’s Intellectual Property Office.

The copyright body says the “geographical significance” of the city means it is inappropriate for the football club to solely own the name.

The trademark attempt sparked outrage from the club’s own fanbase, as well as from outside supporters and observers, with many suggesting it could hit local businesses.

Liverpool had claimed they were trying to deal with illegal counterfeiting, but issued a statement which read: “The club accepts the decision that has been taken by the Intellectual Property Office.

"We will, however, continue to aggressively pursue those large-scale operations which seek to illegally exploit our intellectual property.

“We urge the relevant authorities to take decisive action against such criminal activity wherever it exists.”
