James Milner aims hilarious dig at Divock Origi after stunning scorpion kick goal for Liverpool

James Milner showed his support for Liverpool’s win over Preston with a funny social media post aimed at DIvock Origi.

Liverpool earned their spot in the last eight of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win at Deepdale on Wednesday night.

Second half goals from Takumi Minamino and Origi saw Jurgen Klopp’s rotated team overcome a challenging first 45 minutes to continue their route to Wembley.

Despite being ruled out through a hamstring injury, the Reds vice-captain was cheering the team on from the side-lines, as he showed on Instagram.

Liverpool’s second goal of the evening came from a superbly improvised scorpion kick from Origi, which lobbed the Preston ‘keeper.

And Milner believes he knows the reason behind the Belgian forward’s increased agility.

The 35-year-old posted a picture of Origi’s goal on Instagram with the caption: “Good to see Divock’s yoga is paying off! And the young lads doing well On to the next round #ynwa #standingscorpionpose”

Despite his limited game time, the 26-year old striker has scored two in as many games in the Carabao, having also got an assist in the previous round of the Carabao Cup against Norwich.

Klopp made 11 changes for the cup tie and gave a debut to Harvey Blair, as well as a first Liverpool start for Tyler Morton, with Owen Beck also making his first appearance as a late substitute.

Milner’s support for the academy players in the Reds squad is unsurprising, given recent comments made by assistant coach Pep Lijnders to the club website .

“It shows a lot about his character and his will power to put the team first,” he said, after Milner worsened a hamstring problem chasing down Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.

“My job title is assistant manager but I think you can give that job title to Millie as well. He connects the staff and the players in how he assists our manager.”
