James McClean on the target for Stoke City as Ireland hopefuls impress

James McClean was on the scoresheet this afternoon, scoring for Stoke City as they beat Charlton Athletic.

McClean put the English side ahead midway through the first half, leading to the 3-1 victory.

It comes after McClean received a sickening letter which disturbingly celebrated the anniversary of Bloody Sunday.

The Derry native shared the letter, sent with what appears to be a fake name and address, that commemorated the shooting down of 13 unarmed civilians on Janruary 30th 1972.

The letter read: "Bloody good laugh, happy anniversary. Enjoy the day, fenian McClean".

Elsewhere, Ronan Curtis turned provider for Portsmouth as he assisted twice in Pompey's win over Tranmere.

And Seamus Coleman captained Everton against Crystal Palace in the early kick-off - with James McCarthy starting at midfield for the latter.

Shane Duffy is also in action for Brighton, with teenager Aaron Connolly on the bench for their clash with Watford.
