James McClean hits back at critics with "get it up yese" Instagram post

James McClean has hit back at his critics with a “get it up yese” Instagram post.

It comes after the Ireland star took some stick from Plymouth Argyle fans during Wigan's 2-1 away win at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

In the post, McClean can be seen pulling his shorts up to reveal his "You are now entering Free Derry" tattoo and captioned it: "And proud i am to be (Irish) sit down, shut up and get it up yese."

His wife Erin commented "Wind up merchant" under the post.

Callum Lang's 90th minute winner against fellow League One high-fliers Plymouth sent Wigan up to second in the table.

McClean has been in fine form for Athletic this season, netting five times in 16 appearances since his return to the club in the summer.

In August, Wigan sent a letter to League One clubs to warn them that the FA will press charges against any club supporters who direct any sectarian abuse towards McClean.

The Republic of Ireland international has been a victim of abuse numerous times over the years and he has said himself he has received "more abuse than any other player" during his 10 years in England.

Last year Barnsley were fined £20,000 after some of their supporters directed sectarian language at McClean and the FA criticised the Championship club for not doing anything to “prevent or deter such behaviour”.
