James McAvoy struggles to pronounce the word 'burglary' on The Late Show

Hollywood megastar James McAvoy is one of the finest actors to come from Scotland but even he gets his words mixed up sometimes.

Anyone who has been to a rudimentary of acting classes will have encountered the classic 'red lorry, yellow lorry' and 'she sells sea shells' tongue twisters.

Tackling diphthongs and all sorts of linguistical gymnastics is par for the course for an award-winning thespian such as the Drumchapel-born 40-year-old.

But despite being so gifted in the ways of annunciation, whether in his own accent or one he's commandeered in the name of entertainment, McAvoy has one word which is his personal bugbear.

The X-Men star revealed to US chat show host Stephen Colbert during his appearance on The Late Show on Wednesday night that he really struggles with the word 'burglary', whether in his own accent or any other.

His struggles, which delighted the US audience. can be seen in the hilarious clip above.

McAvoy has most recently starred in the supernatural horror movie It Chapter Two, which is currently on release in cinemas.
