James McAvoy stars in new BBC covid film 'Together' alongside co-star Sharon Horgan

The trailer for a one-off BBC film 'Together' has been released and it stars our very own James McAvoy.

Now writing about a pandemic, which we're still in, is no easy task and is sure to stir up controversy. Is it appropriate? Do we really need this?

But the film, who also stars Sharon Horgan who is best known for comedy series Pulling and Catastrophe, is set to be a hit.

So what is it about?

The highly anticipated film is set in the UK and will focus on the rocky relationship between two partners and their son from the first days of the Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020 until present day.

'She' is a co-ordinator at a refugee charity who deals with affairs for the Europe and 'He' is self-employed and runs a boutique computing consultancy.

'She' is inevitably busy and 'He' is not after being forced to furlough his staff and take up growing vegetables. To add to the stresses of covid, they also have a 10-year-old son, Arty, who is said to hold their relationship together - until lockdown.

It's directed by Academy, Emmy and Bafta Award-winning director, Stephen Daldry who is responsible for favourites like The Crown and Billy Elliot so expectations are surely high.

James McAvoy said the one-off film is a "hilarious, heartfelt, entertaining and unconsciously funny exploration of a relationship and a couple facing real tragedy across a year we have all lived through.”

Shooting the whole film in just 10 days, Sharon Horgan added: “It felt like we were making something important. And the fact that it feels like news means that the Covid death toll, the tragedy of so many lives lost unnecessarily has not been talked about enough."

Together will air tomorrow (June 17) at 9pm on BBC Two.
