James Martin taken to A&E as fans rush to support him

James Martin has been taken to A&E and thanked doctors for "stitching him up".

Fans responded to his post on Twitter to offer their support after what sounded like an accident. Taking to Twitter himself, James wrote: "Thanks to the A&E crew for stitching me up …bloody stars literally… thank you"

One wrote: "Since being on Warfarin I treated myself to these no cut gloves amazing. Not afraid to use sharp knives now. Hope you heal soon."

Another wrote: "I was watching your show a couple of weeks ago while cooking and chopped off the tip of my finger, blood everywhere and pinged like mad, hope whatever you chopped of heals as quickly as mine has."

"Hazard of the job James?" asked another.

James Martin was in on the prank the whole time (ITV)

Another commented: "Eye off the ball or careless ?…. Did the same while giving instructions to a chef while I was using a Berkel bacon slicer. Clever doc sewed it back on "

"Oh James…what did you do? Sorry to hear you’ve had a visit to A&E. Hope your ok and wishing a speedy recovery," said another.

Another commented: "Hope you are feeling better. What did you bump into to see stars. When I was a child I was playing and ran into a post. You do literally see stars. "
