James Maddison to Arsenal transfer hint as Ben White's agent opens up on summer deal

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Friday, August 6.

James Maddison odds tumble

Arsenal are continuing their summer pursuit of Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison as Mikel Arteta eyes his summer rebuild.

Maddison, 24, has been highlighted as the primary target by Edu and co. as they are actively trying to make a compromise with the Foxes when it comes to the transfer fee required to unlock this operation.

football.london understands that Brendan Rodgers' side would want a fee in and around the region of £60million to consider letting go of their attacking talisman.

A transfer hint could have been dropped, though, as Ladbrokes have dropped their odds on Arsenal signing the 24-year-old this summer from 4/11 to 1/5.

Arsenal enter Takehiro Tomiyasu race

Bologna have set a deadline over selling defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, with Arsenal having reportedly joined Tottenham Hotspur in the hunt for his signature.

According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, via InsideFutbol, Tottenham’s arch-rivals Arsenal are amongst the clubs keeping tabs on the defender.

While Arsenal are said to be monitoring the centre-back, it is unclear whether they would be willing to meet Bologna’s asking price of €20million (£17m) if they step up their interest in him.

The Gunners have already spent £50m on defender Ben White this summer, therefore questioning the credibility of the links from Italy for the Serie A defender.

Ben White agent opens up about move

Arsenal's new defensive recruit Ben White is still 'pinching himself' after his move to north London from Brighton & Hove Albion.

White became the third Gunners recruit of the summer after Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga were confirmed prior to his £50m deal going through from the south coast club.

The defender's agent Alex Levack said: "Ben's delighted - I think he's had to pinch himself with the Arsenal move and the England call up.

"It's all fully deserved for the fantastic footballer, the amazing attitude, and the family support network around him.

"I think this is now a fantastic foundation for him to kick on and show everybody what he's about."
