Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has taken to social media to say goodbye to former teammate Ben Chilwell.
The left-back joined Chelsea on Wednesday, signing a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge in a deal worth an initial £50 million.
Chilwell is Frank Lampard’s third big signing of the summer after the captures of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
And there is expected to be more new faces at Stamford Bridge by the end of the week, with Chelsea closing in on moves for Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz.
After his move to Chelsea was confirmed by both clubs, messages for the 23-year-old came flooding in from teammates both old and new.
But there is one that may particularly stand out for the new Chelsea man.
James Maddison has been at Leicester since the summer of 2018, with the two players carving out a special friendship during that time.
The Leicester man, who signed a new deal at the club earlier this week, posted a video on Twitter with two minutes 20 seconds of the two having fun together both on and off the pitch.
“Go well, my brother,” was the message alongside it.
The midfielder also posted the video on Instagram, where Chilwell replied with: “Nah this is unreal man. My brother man. Gunna miss ya. Smash this season man. See u soon.”
The pair will have to wait until January to come up against each other in the Premier League when Leicester visit Stamford Bridge, but will have the chance to play together in the same team again should both get call-ups for England during that time.
