James Maddison ridicules Jeremy Clarkson as former Aberdeen star involved in bizarre Twitter spat

Ex- Aberdeen star James Maddison has ridiculed Jeremy Clarkson as the pair were embroiled in a bizarre Twitter spat.

That's not a sentence we ever expected to write here on Record Sport , until the Leicester City playmaker took exception to the former Top Gear host.

Clarkson had earlier criticised Maddison's performance in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The 59-year-old oddly remarked Maddison was spending too much time on his hair and not enough on improving his game.

He wrote: "James Maddison. Too long at the barber’s. Not enough time practicing football."

Clarkson's comment provoked plenty of ire from fans but the most cutting rebuke came from Maddison himself.

The one-time BBC presenter's curly barnet does look suspiciously less voluminous these days and Maddison took the opportunity to pounce.

He bit back: "Stick to cars mate. Can count on 1 hand how many trims you’ve got left #thin"

On the pitch, Brendan Rodgers' Leicester have ambitions to disrupt the Premier League's top six and almost edged out Chelsea.

Mason Mount opened the scoring for the hosts before Wilfred Ndidi bagged a second half equaliser.

As for Clarkson's assessment of Maddison's performances, the former Norwich City starlet has created 103 chances, more than any other player in England's top flight.
