James Maddison pays Aberdeen tribute as Leicester star looks back on loan spell

He's being tipped to go to some of England's biggest clubs but James Maddison can look back at Aberdeen as a club who helped make him.

A loan spell at Pittodrie in 2016/17 showed flashes of what the playmaker could do in his 17 games for the club.

He only spent six months but left a lasting memory when he scored a stunning free kick to beat Rangers at Pittodrie and he also scored a screamer against Ross County.

And it was that goal in Dingwall for Derek McInnes' men that allowed him to be nostalgic about his spell in the north east of Scotland.

He spun past his man and fired one into the bottom corner of the net.

The SPFL's official twitter feed posted a clip as they looked back on some of the better loan signings in recent years and Maddison is definitely one of them despite his short spell.

The tweet said: "Loan signings don't come much better than @madders10".

That led Maddison to please Aberdeen fans with his reply when he said: "Once a Don".

And Dons supporters really did love it. @BazzaMitch72 said: "I don't think I have ever enjoyed a goal more in my life than your winner against Rangers. I don't know an Aberdeen fan who isnot proud that you played for us James. Keep ripping it up son and all the best." while @Lewi5x simply added: "I love you".

Leicester star Maddison has just earned his first England call-up and he's also being linked with a move to Manchester United.
