James Maddison asked about Leicester City future amid Manchester United transfer interest

Leicester City playmaker James Maddison has stated his happiness at the club amid the possibility of a big-money move to Manchester United in the future.

The 22-year-old netted his first goal of the season against Tottenham, a brilliant low driven shot that left Paulo Gazzaniga no chance to hand Brendan Rodgers' side all three points.

MEN Sport understand that United are monitoring Maddison 's situation with the Midlands club ahead of a potential move next summer.

Maddison fits the ideal profile of target United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has settled upon as part of the club's recruitment reboot, in that he is a young British talent with Premier League experience.

After leaving the field with an ankle problem, Maddison was questioned by former Leicester forward Emile Heskey about his happiness at the club amid rumours of interest from Manchester United.

"I can't speak highly enough of this club," Maddison said. "The opportunities you get and the warmness you receive.

"I've only been here for one year but I feel like I've been here for four or five years - that's how you're made to feel here.

"That's not just people at the club, it's players like yourself [Heskey] previous players that you meet around the place.

"It's brilliant - it's a fantastic club."
