James, Love key Cavs' 120-95 rout of Suns

CLEVELAND _ The Cavaliers' remade roster finally began the process of becoming whole.

It's not there yet, not with Cedi Osman still rehabbing a strained left hip, Kyle Korver attending the funeral of his 27-year-old brother Kirk and coach Tyronn Lue taking a leave of absence to address health issues.

But three of the Cavs' top nine rotation players returned Friday night against the Phoenix Suns, joining five-time All-Star Kevin Love, who played the third game in his comeback from a fractured left hand.

Even with some rust shown by Larry Nance Jr., Rodney Hood and Tristan Thompson after their layoffs, the hapless Suns were no match as the Cavs rolled to a 120-95 victory at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Cavs (43-29), who clinched a playoff berth with the Detroit Pistons' loss to the Houston Rockets Thursday, won their seventh consecutive game against the Suns _ and by their largest margin ever against them. With a three-game road trip opening in Brooklyn Sunday afternoon, the Cavs went 3-0 on the homestand, won their fourth consecutive game and for the fifth time in the last six.

LeBron James scored 16 of his 27 points in the third quarter and sat for all of the fourth. He also contributed six rebounds and nine assists in 29 minutes. On Wednesday against the Toronto Raptors James totaled 35 points and 17 assists with no turnovers; against the Suns James lost four turnovers.

Love backed James with 20 points, six rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes.

Cavs starting forward Jeff Green headed to the locker room with about five minutes left in the second quarter with an illness and did not return. But that seemed relatively minor considering that on Wednesday they were without five players and Lue.

The Suns (19-54) lost their 10th consecutive game and dropped to 5-30 since Jan. 1. They were without their top two scorers _ Devin Booker, who sat for the third consecutive game with a sprained right hand, and T.J. Warren, who missed his second in a row with left knee inflammation.

Nance had not played since March 13 at Phoenix because of a sore right hamstring. He scored just two points in the first half and made 1 of 5 shots. But he found his rhythm in the third quarter, when he scored eight, including an alley-oop dunk off a James assist for a 68-51 lead with 9:26 left in the period.

Finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds in 22 minutes, Nance recorded his fifth double-double in 14 games with the Cavs after being acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers at the Feb. 8 trade deadline.

Thompson, out since March 3 with a sprained right ankle, scored four points with 10 rebounds in 16 minutes.

Hood, who had missed five of the last six games with a lower back strain, scored nine points with three rebounds in 21 minutes, making 4of 8 from the field.

The Cavs took command by outscoring the Suns 39-18 in the second quarter. Jordan Clarkson scored 11 of his 13 points in the period and Love contributed 10.

Using a 19-5 run, the Cavs opened an 83-56 lead in the third quarter, giving the fans a chance to enjoy watching themselves sing karaoke on the Humungotron. The Cavs eventually pushed the margin to 30 on a James' 3-pointer.

The Cavs stuck with the same lineup that helped them beat the Raptors, with Green at forward and Jose Calderon at point guard. Calderon scored just four points with two rebounds and three assists (all in the first quarter), but the Cavs improved to 20-8 when he has started this season.
