Inside the Actors Studio host James Lipton has died at the age of 93.
The TV star's family say he died peacefully at his home in New York City after battling bladder cancer.
James wife Kedaki Turner told TMZ: "There are so many James Lipton stories but I’m sure he would like to be remembered as someone who loved what he did and had tremendous respect for all the people he worked with."
He was best known for fronting acclaimed talk show Inside the Actors Studio where he grilled Hollywood megastars on their craft.
Brad Pitt, Eddie Murphy, Meryl Streep, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Hopkins and Hugh Grant are just some of the names to appear on the Emmy Award winning show.
One of the most memorable moments came in 1994 when a young Bradley Cooper -who was at the time an Actors Studio student - was selected to ask a question to Sean Penn.
Cooper then returned to the talk show in 2011, this time as the interviewed guest following his rise to fame.
Lipton said Coooper's comeback his favourite ever episode of them, saying it made him so emotional to see one of his student's hit the big time.
Inside the Actors Studio was always filmed in front of a live audience, packed full of student actors, who occasionally got the chance to throw in a question of their own.
Lipton hosted the show for 22 seasons before retiring in 2018.
The US star also made several TV appearances including a cameo in the series three finale of Glee, playing himself.
He also regularly appeared in Arrested Development, playing warden Stefan Gentles.
Lipton was also spoofed on Saturday Night Live by Will Ferrell, who impersonated his Inside the Actor's Stuudio interviews.
"I have never been so grateful in my life as I am to Will Ferrell," Lipton once said, admitting he was a huge fan of the sketch.
